Trades Trainer, Welding and Plating - A&P Tyne

We’re looking for someone experienced in all general welding and plating practices including MIG, TIG and MMA to provide hands on training, instructing our apprentices while they master their crafts

So as Trainer at A&P Group, what will you do?
- You’ll provide hands on instruction to apprentices showing them proper techniques and offering guidance to make sure that their skills develop
- Supporting our apprentice on-boarding and site induction process you’ll ensure they get off to a good start, most importantly ensuring PPE and safe working practices are instilled
- Working with our Training Officer and the Fabrication team, you’ll be designing, developing and improving onsite training modules to apprenticeship standards and regulations that we can run with our apprentices
- When you have apprentices ready for tests and exams, you’ll update the team to arrange them, they’ll need to be able to pass legislative trade tests
- You’ll do regular check-ins and updates with apprentices, managers, and our skilled tradespeople to ensure that attendance and progress is good, gaining and giving constructive feedback whenever you can to overcome challenges
- You’ll regularly reviewing progress against objectives to ensure training continues to be effective
- Maintaining equipment with the apprentices you’ll ensure its all in good working condition and safe
And what are we looking for?
- Most importantly, a desire to pass on knowledge and experience to the next generation of engineers
- Your ability to engage with, mentor and challenge young adults will help
- You’ll need experience in industry that has taught you what good looks like
- Experience in general welding and plating practices including MIG, TIG and MMA
- If you’ve trained apprentices that would be great!
- Some knowledge of Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeship regulations and standards would be useful but don't worry if you don't as we can teach you that
