A&P Tyne – Mechanical Fitters – 10-month temporary contract

We are looking for Mechanical Fitters to work on a full turn-key equipment project that includes fabrication, outfitting, coating and commissioning.

You’ll be assembling mechanical systems and structures like walkways and staircases, bolting, fitting, drilling, tapping, torquing things like handrails and posts.

A project that is new to both A&P Tyne and our customer so your involvement in the role will be both challenging and visible. Could this be you?

So, what will you do?

  • Working within the Project Team that we have created for our latest endeavour you’ll be bolting, fitting, drilling, tapping, torquing things like handrails and posts.
  • You will be looking at mechanical systems and structures like walkways and staircases
  • Throughout all phases you’ll be working closely with the other skilled trades team members including welders, electrical fitters, project engineers and project managers to make sure that all activities are coordinated and effectively and efficiently completed on time

And what are we looking for?

  • Time served mechanical fitters with hands on experience working in different environments like construction, shipyards or manufacturing plants
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Safety training including working at Height and in confined spaces would be great!
  • The ability to follow technical drawings, and a strong understanding of mechanical systems, tools and safety procedures with heavy machinery and industrial equipment

You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
