Section Leader, Marine – A&P Tyne

A&P Tyne is home to the largest commercial dry-dock on the East coast of England as well as two deep water berths as a centre of excellence for offshore vessels, dredgers and tankers on one of the busiest rivers in the UK.

Our Fitters complete mechanical overhaul, repair, renew or modification of vessel equipment & systems and we’re looking for someone to lead them.

If you’re passionate about the sea and have a knack for precision engineering this could be for you.

So what will you do?

  • You’ll supervise and manage the operation with a focus on project delivery and resources, including sub-contractors and suppliers, Team Leaders working with Sub-contractors, Project Managers, Project Engineers and other project team members
  • Working within project requirements you’ll also be ensuring compliance with Health Safety, Environmental and Quality standards and legislation and will control stop / starts
  • Working within budgetary and financial constraints you’ll ensure project delivery against plans advising on the efficiency and productivity of planned vs actual hours with the Product and Operations Manager / Marine Director & Project Team

And what are we looking for?

  • Supervisory experience of projects and teams
  • Understanding of engineering within the commercial marine sector
  • Competence in using Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel
  • Trade trained ideally as a Fitter
