A&P Tyne Materials Controller, Fabrication - 6 month fixed term contract

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our fabrication work, part of a project of national significance, while working with and learning from a team of experts.

We’re launching a new 12 month project that will be both challenging and demanding so are looking for an additional Materials Controller to join us for 6 months to organise materials enabling the team to access what they need, when they need it.

You’ll identify work packs, log locations, and deliver what’s needed to the right place at the right time

A great opportunity for those familiar with a fabrication environment who have an FLT licence was well as on overhead crane licence

Who are A&P Tyne?

With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we can built units for vessels, and also joining them together.

Within our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, where your projects will be based, we have a high bay construction hall for our new builds, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas.

Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.

So what will you do?

  • Supporting Fabrication you’ll organise materials into job packs, ensuring that its packaged ahead of when it’s needed with the aim to reduce downtime taken to access it
  • You’ll palletise and store materials, clearly identifying the work packs and you’ll keep a register of where they are stored, enabling easy access for trades when needed
  • Optimising storage space you’ll make best use of the facility creating easily accessible, safe and organised storage areas
  • You’ll support our section leads who will advise what is needed when and where and then you’ll deliver it
  • · You will be a key point of contact to our Fabricators and Welders if any deficiencies or material quality issues are identified that may put them at risk of falling behind their daily plan

And what are we looking for?

  • Strong organisational skills while paying close attention to detail
  • An FLT licence was well as an overhead crane licence
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation including BOMs and ideally engineering drawings
  • Experience in maintaining records / registers / logs
  • Communication and collaborations skills that will help you to do what’s needed

You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
