A&P Group, Falmouth- Supervisor (Engineering)

As we are committed to delivering high-quality ship-repair solutions for our customers, in this role you'll be ensuring that all work is performed to required standards.

We are looking for a Supervisor to join the Engineering team at our Falmouth facility and take responsibility for our Mechanical Fitters and Machinists who are repairing ships.

Who we are:

A&P Falmouth is one of the largest ship-repair facilities in the UK, we provide a complete range of marine repair services thanks to our on-site engineering, electrical, paint and fabrication workshops.

What you will do:

  • You’ll supervise your team ensuring that all work is performed to ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) standards and customer satisfaction
  • You’ll maintain high standards of quality, productivity and safety, preparing written risk assessments and identifying requirements for the safe completion of work
  • Working with our Project / Ship Managers as well as ship’s staff, sub-contractors and other Supervisors you'll monitor workflow, allocate tasks and ensure optimal use of resources and materials, reporting any potential changes to specification work / extra work
  • Ensuring compliance by all employees, you'll be aware of policies and procedures as well as monitoring them
  • You’ll train, mentor and support your team fostering a positive and collaborative work environment

What we are looking for:

  • A qualified engineer, ideally with experience working in the ship building / repair, marine industry or a similar heavy industrial environment
  • You’ll be able to read, interpret and understand technical drawings
  • A leader with experience working in a supervisory or similar level role
  • You’ll need excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills that will help you to effectively supervise your team
  • You’ll need strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring health and safety
  • This role will require a commitment to working overtime when needed
