A&P Tyne Coded Welders, Fabrication

6 month fixed term contract, 12 hour nights or 12 hour days £1,256 to £1,599 per week PAYE

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our fabrication work, part of a project of national significance, while working with and learning from a team of experts.

We’re launching a new project that will be both challenging and demanding so are looking for Coded Welders ready to use strong craftsmanship and attention to detail to join us for 6 months to provide vital skill within the team.

Critical roles as part of our wider team managing this heavily labour intensive project where on time delivery is critical. Could this be you?

Who are A&P Tyne?

With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we can built units for vessels, and also joining them together.

Within our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, where you will be based, we have a high bay construction hall for our new builds, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas.

Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.

So what will you do?

  • Perform high quality welding work on various projects
  • Interpret fabrication drawings, weld procedure documentation and weld inspection procedures working closely with inspectors
  • Check that the drawing details on the weld procedures and preparations both match and are right for the job
  • Check that your welding equipment has a current validation certificate and meets requirements
  • Use, store and protect the right consumables to specification (WPS)
  • Perform any weld tests needed and keep up to date with courses to maintain your competency
  • Dress your welds to meet standards
  • Support training our apprentices and new colleagues

And what are we looking for?

  • Time served through a recognised training programme, such as time served apprenticeship
  • Competency in reading and understanding engineering drawings and equipment, someone who continually trains to meet trade requirements
  • Qualification standard – BS EN ISO 9606, Material use – Carbon steel, Consumable – FM1 or FM2, Gas – M26
  • Coverage required – FCAW (136) – Butt welds vertical and overhead to give full positional coverage. Fillet weld alongside the butt weld in down hand, Single run fillet tested
  • 12 hours per shift of either:
  • A passion for meeting and exceeding customer requirements who efficiently with a focus quality while achieving targets
  • Willingness to take on new challenges to develop competency

0700 – 1900hrs Dayshift Monday to Friday or

1900 – 0700hrs Nightshift Monday to Saturday

These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us.

You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
