Quality Engineer, A&P Tyne

From A&P Tyne we are currently delivering units for the Future Submarine Programme and units for the new class of Royal Navy Frigates – global combat vessels designed for anti-submarine warfare. And what will you do?

  • In a nutshell Quality Assurance, Compliance, Clear Communication
  • You’ll review client IP to determine quality requirements like material grade, welding process, NDE requirements, intervention points, acceptance criteria, verifying records and any stipulated intervention points
  • Developing managing and updating inspection test plans for projects you’ll look at Scope of Work, Inspection and Test Activities, Responsible Parties, Frequency of Inspections, Documentation and Acceptance Criteria
  • Ensuring all reports generated during manufacturing process are completed you’ll be building the manufacturing record books
  • You’ll collaborate with our project team you’ll ensure the ITPs are aligned with requirements
  • As part of your regular routine you’ll be out and about within projects at our Tyne facility to do surveillance tours of the units making sure any quality concerns are flagged
  • When you’ve identified quality issues, you’ll work with the team to resolve them
  • You’ll attend and contribute within project progress and quality meetings

And what are we looking for?

  • A degree or equivalent in Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in quality engineering and inspection plan creation and management
  • Technical expertise and knowledge of heavy fabrication processes materials and industry standards with a keen eye for detail and understanding of the importance of quality
  • In depth knowledge of quality standards and regulations
  • Organisation, communication and diplomacy skills developed through both working on projects and within teams
  • IT skills with various Microsoft packages such as Pro, Word and Excel.
