A&P Tyne - Fitter
Operating the largest commercial dry-dock on the East Coast of England, our business is flourishing and we want you to be part of it. We are a centre of excellence for offshore vessels, dredgers and tankers based on the Tyne, one of the busiest rivers in the UK.
Whether it’s working on the ships in our docks or performing vital maintenance we may have a place for you. Our Fitters complete mechanical overhaul, repair, renew or modification of vessel equipment & systems.
So, what will you do?
- Maintenance and repairs on various vessels through inspecting, diagnosing and then repairing mechanical and structural issues
- Work will include thrusters and blades, rudders, propellers, tail shafts, pumps, compressors, bow / stern doors, ramps and winches
- You will transport items through the vessel as required by fleeting using lifting equipment
- Assisting in the overhaul, repair, renew or modification of the vessel’s main engines, generators compressors and other engineering equipment
- Vital maintenance within the facility
And what are we looking for?
- Time served fitter, able to read technical drawings
- Excellent communication skills
- Slinging, Fork lift Driving and Mobile Elevating Work Platform experience would be great!
- Manual Handling capability

You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
