A&P Tyne Team Leader, Fabrication 6 month fixed term contract, 12 hour nights and 12 hour days

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our fabrication work, part of a project of national significance, while working with and learning from a team of experts.

We’re launching a new project that will be both challenging and demanding so are looking for Team Leaders to join us for 6 months to provide vital guidance and instruction to our Welders and Platers

Critical roles as part of our wider team managing this heavily labour intensive project where on time delivery is critical. Could this be you?

Who are A&P Tyne?

With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we can built units for vessels, and also joining them together.

Within our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, where you will be based, we have a high bay construction hall for our new builds, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas.

Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.

So what will you do?

  • You’ll oversee and coordinate the work of our Coded Welders or Platers who are working to strict industry standards.
  • Overseeing and coordinating the activities of your team you will instruct and guide as needed
  • You’ll lead and motivate your team to achieve project goals prioritising and scheduling tasks
  • Coordinating them to complete daily and weekly targets you’ll be fostering a positive, supportive and efficient workplace
  • You’ll log activities, including project details, timings and quality control reports
  • To ensure that we all go home safe and well, you’ll enforce safety
  • You’ll identify training needs and opportunities for skill development and ensure they are followed up
  • Ensuring equipment is functioning, you’ll address any malfunctions promptly

And what are we looking for?

  • Team Leading experience of projects and teams
  • Understanding of heavy fabrication
  • Competence in using Microsoft packages such as Word and Excel
  • Trade trained ideally as a Plater / Fabricator or Welder
  • 12 hours per shift of either:

0700 – 1900hrs Dayshift Monday to Friday or

1900 – 0700hrs Nightshift Monday to Saturday

Due to the nature of what we do for some of the customers that we work with, some roles working for A&P are subject to security control restrictions. These restrictions mean that factors including your nationality, any previous nationalities you have held, and your place of birth may limit those roles you can perform with us.

You must also undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before your employment starts, which will include a basic DBS check.
