Temporary Fettlers / Dressers / Grinders - A&P Tyne
Do you have a good eye for detail with welding and fabrication to do Post Welding Pre-Inspection Dressing?
We are looking for several Fettlers / Dressers / Grinders to dress welds that consistently meet quality standards before final inspection.
You’ll be working on projects of national importance on some of the most sophisticated vessels ever built, helping to secure the nation’s future defence.

From A&P Tyne we are currently delivering units for the Future Submarine Programme and units for the new class of Royal Navy Frigates – global combat vessels designed for anti-submarine warfare.
And what will you do?
- Fettle, grind and smooth welds to remove excess material
- Make sure that all welds meet pre-inspection quality requirements
- Work safely with hand tools, grinders, and other fettling equipment
- Alongside welders and inspectors, you’ll prepare parts for final quality checks
- Keep a clean and safe work environment
And what are we looking for?
- Experience as a fettler / dresser or a similar role within fabrication
- Knowledge of post-welding processes and techniques
- Ability to use a variety of tools such as grinders and files
- Strong eye for and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Flexibility to work on a temporary basis
