A&P Group – Falmouth, Health & Safety Officer

As part of our commitment to excellence and safety, we are looking for a Health & Safety Officer to join our dedicated team and support us to maintain our high standards. In this role you will support and maintain awareness of the potential for unplanned losses of people, time, reputation and equipment.

Who we are:

A&P Falmouth is one of the largest ship-repair facilities in the UK, providing a complete range of marine repair services thanks to our on-site engineering, electrical, paint and fabrication workshops.

What you will do:

  • We work with heavy industry, so you’ll play a great part in ensuring that we all return home safe and healthy at the end of every working day
  • Reporting and recording health, safety, environmental and quality performance, you’ll also carry out or assist others in investigation, reporting and recommending action on accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances to drive positive change and improvements
  • You’ll monitor conformance with health, safety & environmental regulations as well as A&P procedures
  • As part of our shared values with a focus on responsibility and sustainability practices you will carry out, and assist others with, risk assessments and safe systems of work as well as provide advice on health, safety, environmental and quality matters to line management and the wider team
  • You’ll review project requirements, and the impact of advice you give while maintaining legislation in a professional, competent manner with colleagues, customers and contractors
  • You’ll ensure that all of our teams including sub-contractors, customer representatives and visitors receive Health & Safety training
  • You’ll follow A&P procedures to issue, validate, monitor and control permits

What we are looking for:

  • NEBOSH general certificate / NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of working within the Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) function in an industrial / engineering environment with good knowledge of best practice within HSEQ
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
  • Willingness to work various shift patterns including at night and during the weekend and to be on-call during unsociable hours and visit the facility during these times as required.
