Trainee Project / Ship Manager – A&P Falmouth

We are growing our team here and are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join our Falmouth facility as a Trainee Project / Ship Manager.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands on experience, develop key project management skills and contribute to high-impact engineering projects from day one to ensure all aspects of the work that we do is planned, coordinated and delivered as needed.

So, what will you do?

Home to one of the world’s largest natural deep-water harbours, A&P Falmouth’s facility is one of the largest ship-repair complexes in the UK. As a Trainee Project / Ship Manager, you will:

  • Assist our Project Managers in the planning, execution and delivery of complex ship-repair projects
  • Develop project plans and schedules, manage project budgets, procurement and resource allocation
  • Support in managing project risks, issues and change requests
  • Familiarise yourself with all aspects of the projects that you manage from specification, tender and all associated documentation
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors and suppliers to monitor progress and report on key milestones and project performance

And what are we looking for?

  • Experience in ship-repair or in an engineering / fabrication environment
  • A strong interest in project management and heavy engineering
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Competency using MS Office
  • Budget management skills and experience / knowledge of procurement processes
  • A proactive approach and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment
